Trix Academy
Welcome to Trix Academy, a tuition-free K–8 charter school proudly serving Detroit families and part of the Phalen Leadership Academies network. At Trix, every child is recognized as a scholar with unlimited potential. Our diverse curriculum includes robotics, coding, hands-on enrichment in the arts and humanities, and data-driven instruction that drives strong academic growth.
Learning at Trix extends far beyond the classroom. We offer After School Tutoring, a Free Summer Program, engaging clubs and activities, academic intervention support, and even free job training for family members. With caring teachers, state-of-the-art technology, and a nurturing school community, we prepare scholars to succeed in school, in life, and as leaders in Detroit.

Our Mission
Our mission is to empower Detroit scholars through high-quality academics, meaningful enrichment, and strong character development. At Trix Academy, we partner with families, leverage community resources, and create joyful learning experiences that help every child reach their full potential.

Our vision is for every Trix scholar to master essential academic skills while developing strong character rooted in honesty, service, determination, and a deep belief in their future. We believe that with the right education and support, every child can fulfill their tremendous innate potential.
STRONG RESULTS
Trix Academy outperformed statewide growth with a 7% gain in ELA, a 4%+ gain in math on the MSTEP, and a 10% increase in math proficiency on the NWEA.
INNOVATION
Trix’s new Multiplication License program motivates scholars to master math facts 0–12 and celebrate with a license-style badge and photo—making math fun, exciting, and confidence-building.
SUMMER LEARNING
Trix Academy offers Summer Advantage—a free program that prevents learning loss, keeps scholars safe, and gives them a strong head start for the new school year.

Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA) is a nonprofit network of public schools committed to helping children excel academically and grow in character. PLA partners with schools like DCP Harper Woods to provide rigorous instruction, strong family engagement, and a caring environment where every scholar can thrive.

Our data-driven, student-centered approach engages scholars in meaningful learning every day. Trix Academy offers a diverse range of programs, including robotics, coding, arts and humanities enrichment, social-emotional learning, sports and clubs, and after-school activities. Scholars benefit from 1:1 technology, free meals, free transportation, After School Tutoring, and a free summer program through Summer Advantage.
